Access Permissions

Access permissions in Internet Information Services refer to the capability of the Web client to use the file and directory resources within a Web site. These permissions include the capability to read a file, to write a file, to receive script source access, or to allow directory browsing. Internet Information Services 5 enables you to specify the access permissions for each virtual server or Web site and each virtual directory that you create. Figure 4.4 displays the Web site property sheet that you will use to specify access permissions for a virtual server.

Figure 4.4. Access permissions for a virtual server are configured on the Home Directory tab of the Default Web Site Properties sheet.
