Auditing and Logging

After your security is configured, Windows 2000 provides several different methods to troubleshoot security issues and determine what happened. These methods can help you determine which accounts have logged on, or attempted to log on, to your server.

It can also determine which pages and files have been accessed, as well as any patterns in accesses or access attempts.

Methods for auditing and logging access to Internet Information Services include Windows 2000 Event Logging and Internet Information Services Logging. Internet Information Services Logging is covered in a later chapter.
