The Microsoft® Windows® Server 2003 operating system obtains performance data from components in your computer as those components are utilized. This data is described as a performance object and is typically named for the component that is generating the data. For example, the Web Service performance object is a collection of performance data about Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0.
