Microcontroller-based circuits can be initially tested by mixed-mode simulation, which combines linear models for the analogue networks and logical models for the digital components. Proteus VSM includes ISIS schematic capture and simulation, and ARES PCB layout software. Microchip MPLAB can be used for firmware project management, MCU program testing and downloading only.
