Abstract: Interpersonal communication describes how two people use psychological, communicative, relational, nonverbal, contextual, and discourse strategies to conduct their relationships. When two people from different cultures communicate, often this imposes several challenges to communication. This essay probes several phenomena including cultural differences in face, self-disclosure, and the communication of intercultural couples. Representative studies for each of these interpersonal processes are summarized.
