10 Section Filtering

To read SI or other data from a broadcast stream, a receiver must use one or more section filters to find the appropriate parts of an MPEG stream. This chapter looks at how a receiver can efficiently use section filters to get this information. Furthermore, we will look at how applications can use the section-filtering API to get access to data streams that are not available in other ways. We will also examine how applications can do the most efficient job of filtering the information they need.
