Description and Purpose

Snap Shots are conceptual multiple-choice questions that help deepen student understanding while simultaneously checking it. During a lecture, the professor pauses, asks a question, and individual students choose which answer they think is correct. The questions in Snap Shots focus on a single concept, have a good set of multiple-choice answers, and have a moderate level of difficulty. The instructor makes a quick visual assessment of student responses. Students then discuss their answers in pairs and try to come to consensus on the answer.
