Making predictions is a strategy in which learners use information they have gleaned from other assignments and their own personal experiences to anticipate what they are about to hear in a lecture. Learners make their predictions based on a pattern of evidence. Predicting is not only about figuring out what is next but also forming hypotheses, asking questions, recalling facts, inferring, and drawing conclusions. This strategy helps students make connections between their prior learning and the information being communicated by the lecturer.
