A transmission-model lecture consists of one-way communication from a professor to a group of students. By contrast, an interactive lecture encourages the teacher and the students to engage in communication. One form of two-way communication that we may not often think of is intentional nonverbal communication. Thoughtful use of Silent Signals, or nonverbal exchanges between students and teachers, can positively affect the classroom climate and facilitate learning.
