Students will often ask instructors for their presentation slides after a lecture. Slides do not make the best handouts, however, because they are designed for the purpose of being displayed rather than for reading and studying later. When done well, they will contain only minimal information, perhaps just a few words or an image. Thus students are not likely to benefit from these slides outside of the context for which they are intended: the lecture itself. Moreover, not only is reviewing minimalist slides ineffective for studying but also the idea of students printing the high number of slides seems wasteful and is not something that we want to encourage.
