Chapter 15. Links

Links (hyperlinks, to give them their full name) are arguably the most important elements in HTML—it is links that make the Web a web. This is the most significant thing about the Web: it allows us to create pathways between different resources residing on the web servers of the world, resulting in an infinitely extendable communication and information network, accessible to people of different nationalities and with different abilities.

The two types of links used on the Web are:

• Links created with the <link> element in the document <head>, for example the links used to apply external CSS and JavaScript to HTML files. We have covered these in Chapter 11, “CSS Intro,” and Chapter 12, “<head>.”
