Abstract
This paper advocates the view that product support is a knowledge intensive process that should be modelled using knowledge engineering methodology. After highlighting the need for a new approach, the paper concentrates on defining the knowledge base of product support systems. The knowledge contained in the knowledge base is identified, and its modelling is described using notions introduced to capture the semantic complexity of the product support domain.
