Restoration

Though many of the tools and techniques discussed so far are useful for both fixing and sweetening your audio projects, there are other problems that Sound Forge handles with power and speed.

De-Essing

Is excessive sibilance ruining your recordings? If you hear a predominant “ess” sound, you can reduce its annoying effect with Sound Forge. Use EQfírst. Click Process > EQ> Parametric. Set the Filter style to Band-notch/boost, the Center frequency 4.75 kHz, and the Band width to 1 octave. Experiment with the Amount to reduce the sibilance.
