Advanced Editing

With the basics down, time to introduce some more advanced ways to edit with Sound Forge®.

Mixing

Earlier it was mentioned that Sound Forge is not multitrack software, but it is possible to mix sounds together in one file. Use this sound-on-sound technique to combine multiple files in creative ways. The most obvious being adding music to a narration track.

After editing the voice track, open the music you wish to mix in a separate file. Since the music length may not match the voice track’s duration, edit and trim the music track accordingly. Select the entire music file by clicking Edit > Select All or using CTRL+A and then copy the selection to the clipboard using Edit > Copy or CTRL+C.
