In December 2013, Jonathan Trott, a leading cricketer, was big news as he left one of the most prestigious cricket competitions. The Telegraph newspaper described him as having a ‘stress related illness’ or possible depression1. Trott was just another in a spate of high-profile exits over the past few years. Andrew Strauss, England cricket captain, announced his retirement from the sport. The reasons reported were poor performance on the field and increased pressure both professionally and personally.
