What Is XML?

XML (eXtensible Markup Language) is a flexible data format used to distribute content to multiple destinations. It can store and organize just about any kind of information in a form customized to your needs, such as a magazine article, catalog of products, or a database of numbers. As an open standard, XML is not tied to any particular platform or application, making it easy to share data between previously incompatible applications.
