Tables are composed of cells just like sentences are composed of words and words are composed of letters. Because cells are the essential building blocks of tables, that’s where you’ll start in your exploration of table design. In fact, cell formatting combines with table formatting very much like character and paragraph styles combine to form nested paragraph styles (see Chapter 10, “Formatting Type and Generating Style Sheets”), so you’ll start at the “bottom” and work your way up.
