Setting Up Nested Styles

A nested style is a character style that is embedded into a paragraph style and applied to a specified range of text within the paragraph you apply the paragraph style to. In other words, nested styles allow you to apply paragraph styles and character styles at the same time in just one mouse click, taking automation to a whole new level.

Nested styles play a major role in any template containing text formatting that follows a consistent pattern. They are especially useful for bulleted and numbered lists, run-in headings, and so on (Figure 10.38).
