Setting Up Master Pages

Begin by studying your mock-up layout and determine which design elements repeat frequently and consistently enough to be placed on a master page. Here are a few guidelines to follow as you set up master pages:

  • Don’t place rarely used items. Elements that recur infrequently should not be placed on a master page. Otherwise, you’ll create more cleanup work for yourself later on. It’s best to place occasionally used design elements into an object library instead of on a master page, giving you convenient access to them as you need them.
