Bleed and Slug Area

If you plan on printing images to the edge of the page, you need to add a bleed area around its perimeter. A measurement of 1/8in (3mm) is typically used to allow for any deviations when the paper is trimmed to its final size. Larger documents, such as banners and big posters, require up to a 1/4in (6mm) bleed. Bleed guides are created around the perimeter of the defined page size when you specify a bleed.

Note

The bleed and slug settings are applied to the entire document, not to individual pages. It’s not possible to set up custom bleed and slug areas on a page-by-page basis unless you use ruler guides.
