Text Frame

All editable text in InDesign must reside within a text frame. Like graphics frames, text frames can be moved, resized, and reshaped. They can also be linked together to allow text to flow from one frame into another within a document.

Text frames are composed of two basic parts—a bounding box and a frame. A bounding box surrounds the frame and is used to move, resize, and duplicate it. All the text exists within the text frame. To create an empty text frame, activate the Type tool and then drag to define the width and height of the new frame. The tool you use to select a text frame determines the kind of changes you can make to it.
