Redefining a Frame’s Content

InDesign is very flexible when it comes to redefining a frame’s purpose. In fact, it’s not completely necessary to build frames specifically for text or graphics. InDesign provides several ways to redefine a frame’s content:

  • To convert a path or text frame to a graphics placeholder frame, select a path or an empty text frame and then choose Object > Content > Graphic.

  • To convert a path or graphics frame to a text placeholder frame, select a path or an empty graphics frame and then choose Object > Content > Text.

  • To convert a text or graphics frame to an unassigned frame (path only), select an empty frame and then choose Object > Content > Unassigned.
