Custom Scripts

With InDesign’s scripting support, you can automate repetitive tasks, such as drawing frames, placing images, and formatting text. Scripts can perform a multitude of tasks, from applying styles to automating an entire publishing system. In fact, any action that can change a document or its contents can be scripted. Scripting also plays an integral role in XML-based workflows.

InDesign supports the use of AppleScript, JavaScript, and VBScript. It’s possible to create your own scripts or run scripts that other people have created (Figure 1.17).
