Extruding Bitmap Images

Creating a three-dimensional image from a twodimensional media file is known as extruding the image. Boris can extrude line art, vector images, simple shapes, and text.

Vector images such as Adobe Illustrator files or EPS (Encapsulated PostScript) files are easily converted to line art or extrusions by simply changing the Track Shape setting in the Timeline window. Because vector images are composed of mathematically calculated points and lines, they can be resized infinitely without losing quality. On the other hand, bitmap images (.tif, .bmp, .jpg, etc.) cannot be extruded with the same ease.
