The Search Center
The Search Center plays an important role in the overall end-user search experience within SharePoint. The main goal of the Search Center is to provide an alternative to the small Search box discussed in the preceding section. The Search Center consists of a complete site template that delivers a rich out-of-the-box end-user search experience that can also be customized, as you’ll learn in Chapter 3.

The Search Center is not available in a pure Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 deployment. You must install Office SharePoint Server 2007 to allow end users to work with these types of sites. Support for the Search Center is provided ...
