SIX Swiss Exchange

The SMI is the widely reported and popularly known index that marks direction for all stocks traded on the SIX Swiss Exchange. The SMI comprises 20 of Switzerland's biggest companies. Yet the SMIM is a broader index that includes 30 of Switzerland's largest mid-cap companies. A total of 256 shares trade on the SIX Swiss Exchange, represented by the All Share Index.

All stock indices operate based on a Laspeyres index, a free float that is calculated every second by dedicated market professionals at the SIX Swiss Exchange. The formula is:
