About the Author

Dr. Maury Harris is one of the most experienced economists on Wall Street, with 34 years of service as U.S. Chief Economist at PaineWebber and UBS. Prior to joining PaineWebber, he served on the staffs at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and the Bank for International Settlements. Dr. Harris has taught and earned his PhD in Economics at Columbia University. As an undergraduate student at the University of Texas, he graduated Phi Beta Kappa.

In 2012, Dr. Harris was selected by Bloomberg Markets magazine as one of the 50 most influential persons in global financial markets. A year earlier, Bloomberg Markets cited him as the most accurate forecaster of U.S. economic data over a two-year period. In 2004, 2006, and 2008 he and his colleague James O'Sullivan were ranked by MarketWatch as Forecaster of the Year, and on seven separate occasions he has been designated in MarketWatch's monthly rankings as Forecaster of the Month. Dr. Harris is a past president of the Forecasters Club of New York. On more than two-dozen separate occasions, he has been selected as a member of The Institutional Investor All-America Research teams.
