Planning the Network
You need to do a great deal of planning before you set up your network. As part of the planning process, you must perform the following steps, which are described in the following sections:

Obtain a network number and, if applicable, register your network domain with the InterNIC addressing authority, as described in the section “Planning for IP Addressing” later in this chapter.

After you receive your IP network number, devise an IP addressing scheme for your hosts, as described in the section “IP Addressing (IPv4)” later in this chapter.

3. |
Create a list containing the IP addresses and hostnames of all the machines that will make up your network. You will use this list as you build network databases.
