Fixing a performance problem usually involves several changes that can be a combination of hardware changes, software tuning, and kernel tweaking. You might find that some of the solutions you implement actually reduce performance or maybe improve performance in one area at the expense of another subsystem.
Performance tuning consists of many small cumulative steps. This is not an area to use the “shotgun” approach to fixing a problem. Rarely does a single change make a huge difference in performance anyway. Therefore, implement your solutions systematically and one at a time.
