Vectorizing the Mountains

As stated earlier, half this restoration process is to make a vector copy of the poster so that it can be scaled up or down without any information loss. And to begin to do this, we need the Pen tool. Take a look at the black of the mountains in the poster. You'll trace this color area and save it as a path.

Here's how to begin:

Zoom into 100% viewing resolution on the poster. Hold down the spacebar (to toggle to the Hand tool), and scroll until you can see the top left of the poster.

Choose the Pen tool from the toolbox. On the Options bar, make sure the Paths icon and the Add to path area icon are chosen. Click a point at the far left where the black part of the poster begins.
