Editing the Shadows

The inaccurate lightening created particularly ugly shadows on the girl's face. You will not remove them entirely; instead, you will reduce the shadows enough to give the girl's face a nice, smooth appearance:

Begin with the banana-shaped shadow on the right cheek. From the toolbox, choose the Lasso tool (the Magnetic Lasso tool is okay, too) and a feather of 3 pixels on the Options bar (use a higher feathering value when working with higher resolution images). Look at Figure 16.17 to see the selection.
