Exception handling is one of the areas of T-SQL that was improved dramatically with the release of Microsoft SQL Server 2005. Previous versions of SQL Server had very limited exception-handling support. SQL Server 2005 introduces a new exception-handling construct and much better support for exception handling in general. In this chapter, I’ll briefly go over the limitations of exception handling in SQL Server 2000 and then discuss the new functionality available in SQL Server 2005.
