Summary

This chapter discussed what Out Of Office (OOF) reply messages are and how you can call the GetUserOofSettings and SetUserOofSettings Web methods to get and set the criteria that the Exchange Server will use to send OOF reply messages on your behalf. We discussed the differences between internal and external e-mail addresses, as well as how OOF reply message bodies can be customized for each.

We stated that organizations can implement a policy that restricts the sending of OOF reply messages to external recipients, and how you can determine the effective setting from the values in a GetUserOofSettingsResponse.
