Chapter 20. Autodiscover

Configuring client applications to communicate with an Exchange Server can be a daunting task when thousands of users exist in an organization. Up until Exchange Server 2007, users have been required to manually configure their individual client applications such as Microsoft Office Outlook. Manual configuration can introduce errors that may result in extra help desk calls for such reasons as input errors or incomplete user instructions. To complicate matters, when user mailboxes are moved from one mailbox server to another, which is sometimes done to balance the load between servers, all client applications that connect to the moved mailboxes must be reconfigured.
