Summary

In Exchange Web Services, everything is either an item or a folder. ItemType is the absolute base class for all objects that are contained within a folder. Objects such as messages, items, contacts, calendar items, and so forth are all items. In this chapter we discussed the difference between response objects and real items, although the details of response objects will have to wait until Chapter 7 for the message-related response objects and Chapter 8 through Chapter 10 for the calendaring-related response objects. We covered the various operations that are dedicated to items and their descendants. We finished with a discussion of the properties that are exposed on an Item.
