Understanding the Registry

To effectively administer Terminal Server, especially on a large scale, you need to gain an intimate knowledge of the inner workings of the Registry. What you really need to understand is how your applications use the Registry.

For those unfamiliar with the Registry, it's just a central database for keeping operating system and application settings. Every time you change the wallpaper on your desktop, install a new piece of hardware, or change a setting in a control panel, you are saving your changes in the Registry. The Registry is mainly used by Windows 32-bit applications, although some Windows 16-bit applications are able to write to it.
