It did not take long for Microsoft to realize the potential of server-based computing technology.

With Citrix server-based computing technology, Windows applications could run on nearly every desktop in the enterprise, including UNIX, Macintosh, and OS/2. Citrix also was interested in working with Microsoft for several reasons, including access to large enterprise-class organizations and enhanced support.
