The Story of Citrix

The story of Terminal Server begins with a South Florida software company called Citrix. Citrix was founded by Ed Iacobucci and 12 programmers in 1989. With the help of Iacobucci's strong OS/2 background at IBM, Citrix set to work on a DOS/Windows terminal server based on OS/2.

Multiuser OS/2 and WinView

Over the next year, the team worked diligently at creating a multiuser version of OS/2. The resulting Multiuser OS/2 product debuted in 1990 and was a significant technological accomplishment. It was the first product on the market that gave administrators the ability to distribute multiple OS/2 desktops to remote users from a single server.
