Working with EXTRUDE and REVOLVE

As mentioned before, solid primitives, such as Box, Sphere, Cone, and so on, are frequently used in combinations to produce new solid shapes. In addition to primitives, AutoCAD provides two powerful commands that produce non-primitive, often complex, shapes from closed 2D curves: EXTRUDE and REVOLVE.

The EXTRUDE command is useful for objects that contain fillets, chamfers (discussed later in this chapter), and other details that might otherwise be difficult to reproduce except in a profile. The REVOLVE command creates a solid by revolving a two-dimensional object (profile) about an axis. 2D objects capable of being revolved include closed polylines, polygons, circles, ellipses, closed splines, donuts, and regions. ...
