Considering 3D Meshes

Like the other 3D surfacing commands discussed in this chapter, the 3DMESH command creates a mesh of contiguous 3D faces. An MxN matrix, where M is generally associated with the X-axis and N with the Y-axis, defines the size of the mesh. To construct even a relatively simple mesh of this type requires a large amount of input and, if done manually, is quite tedious and error prone. The 3DMESH command, therefore, is intended primarily as the avenue of input for external programs. In this respect, 3DMESH is similar to the PFACE command discussed earlier in this chapter. Programs written in programming languages such as AutoLISP are adept in supplying the required vertex information required by the 3DMESH command.
