Creating Your Own Shape File

You have the option of creating your own shape file containing the characters you want to use for text objects. Creating each character is a laborious procedure because you have to break each character into a series of short line segments and enter the codes for those line segments into the new font file. In earlier versions of AutoCAD that did not support the use of TrueType fonts, defining your own shape file was the only way to add to the font files supplied with AutoCAD.
