Summary

In this chapter, you have gained the necessary knowledge for performing the essential data-related tasks in ASP.NET applications using Microsoft’s new data access technology, which is being called ADO.NET.

ADO.NET is much more than a simple ADO evolution (in the same way that ASP.NET is not simply a new version of ASP). Keeping with the .NET philosophy, ADO.NET is an entirely new technology that exposes a new way for working with data over the web. This chapter introduced the main ADO.NET objects, as well as the three controls commonly used to build data-oriented Web Forms.
