Chapter 3. Configuring ASP.NET Applications
In ASP.NET, configuration information is stored in an XML-based configuration file. This means that it is user-viewable and editable. Because of this, administrators and developers can update web application and site configuration settings with ease. It is no longer necessary for developers to wait for an administrator to change Internet Information Services (IIS) settings and reboot the web server for the settings to take effect.
