Now, Let's Get Creative

That's not a terribly descriptive title for what we are about to explore. We are all creative. Some more than others, of course, but we all have the ability to come up with creative solutions to the problems we encounter every day. Teams have the potential to tap into their creativity and develop innovative ideas every time they meet. They just need to follow some specific guidelines to avoid the traps that get in their way.

George Prince was one of four people who left Arthur D. Little in 1960 to form Synectics® Inc. George served as Chairman of Synectics® for 30 years and is credited with playing a major role in developing many of the concepts that relate to creativity and innovation. Most of them are still very applicable today and Synectics® continues to thrive, now under a new name, Synecticsworld.

Their story is an intriguing one as they were originally part of a group at ADL called the Invention Design Group. Their mission was to invent products and strategies for their clients. They were quite successful at what they did.

One of the things that helped them succeed was that they invested time in researching their meetings. They were curious as to why sometimes they did terrific work and other times they failed miserably. It was that research that led to the original Synectics® body of knowledge.
