Acknowledgments
It all begins with Lois, my wife of more than 40 years. I know that most acknowledgments usually save the comments for their loved ones for the end. I get that. But there's no way I can thank anyone before I express my appreciation and love for my best friend. Lois thinks of everyone else before herself, almost to a fault. She can be tough as nails when necessary, but is nurturing, loving, and encouraging every single day. Since she is a writer herself, her editing is always appreciated, and her suggestions and perspectives have been helpful and valuable throughout this process.
My grown children and their children are gifts that I cherish. I don't quote Paul Anka very often, and most of you don't have a clue as to who this singer from the 50s and 60s is. He sang a relatively unknown song about being the father of girls. The line I remember most goes something like “ . . . as the father of boys, you worry; as the father of girls you pray.” My prayers were certainly answered. Andrea Cooper and Deborah Rubin have grown up to be extraordinary adults, and their husbands, Jon and Howie, are outstanding young men. All are making meaningful contributions to the world and I am so proud of them. And of course my precious grandchildren, Logan, Sage, Jonah, and Tess, have taught me to experience feelings that I never imagined.
