Personal Characteristics

Abstract

In this chapter, we discuss the general business environment in the three countries and the personal characteristics that are necessary for entrepreneurial behavior. Personality traits such as the ability to spot opportunities and innovate, propensity for risk taking, achievement orientation, and an internal locus of control, among others, are conducive to entrepreneurship. We examine the personality traits of the people in the United States, China, and India and assess what role they play in the dynamics of entrepreneurship in these countries.
