Formulate a Plan for Fixing the Problem

In many cases, you will go through several hypotheses before coming up with a solution. These may be sequential hypotheses, in which you make a guess that turns out to be wrong, you make another somewhat better hypothesis that turns out to be closer, and so on until you finally come to one good answer.

They may be parallel hypotheses, in which you make one guess that turns out to be right and it leads to another hypothesis about something else that's affecting your problem, and so on. The final solution may be to make many changes to different areas. Once you've tested your hypotheses and think you know what's happening, it is time to plan how to roll out the changes to production.
