Rummler and Brache (1995), Burlton (2001) and many others have described methodologies for capturing business process definitions, and Hammer (1997) and others have emphasized the restructuring of businesses around processes. Havey (2005) gives a broad summary of several business process modeling approaches. A good introduction to Workflow is given by van der Aalst and van Hee (2004). Many valuable contribitions to state modeling have been made by David Harel: see for example Harel and Politi (1998).
