11.9. Conclusion

In this chapter, we have discussed the physical security problems in an AON and mainly focused on crosstalk attacks because of their propagation capability. We have developed a crosstalk attack as well as a monitor model. Based on these models, we proposed the concept of a monitor-segment and developed necessary and sufficient conditions for a one-crosstalk attack diagnosable and k-crosstalk attack diagnosable network. We have also developed several sparse monitor placement algorithms and an attack diagnosis (location) algorithm based on the observations made during monitor operation.
