CM MADs

Use of the Terms “Local” and “Remote”

This section provides a detailed description of the MADs sent between the CMs associated with two CA's to setup, modify, or tear down a communications channel between either:

  • A QP in one CA and a QP in the other CA (if RC or UC).

  • An EEC in one CA and an EEC in the other CA (if RD).

In the description of each field in a message, the words “local” and “remote” are frequently used (e.g., the local CM and the remote CM). The use of these two terms can be confusing. They are defined as follows:

  • Local. Refers to one of the following:

    - The CM sending the message.

    - Logic (e.g., a QP) within the CA associated with the CM that is sending the message.

  • Remote. Refers to one of the following:

    - The CM receiving ...
